ASUS ROG Motherboards are incredibly capable, relevant boards. However, when it comes to the Crosshair series it has been over a decade since AMD CPU’s were supported. Of course, that has now changed. With the introduction of the ROG Crosshair VI Extreme, we now have AMD capability. It’s only fitting that AMD’s return to the series is that of the Ryzen variety to show off the Processor’s huge potential.
The Crosshair VI Extreme comes equipped with everything you could need for a high-end multimedia setup. Connectivity is plentiful and customisation is outstanding.
One extra feature that is worth noting, for those that are using larger graphics cards such as the ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. The spacing between the top 2 PCIe x16 slots are extra wide to allow room for 2.5 slot cards.
The board features Aura Sync for added customisation. Aura Sync allows you match colours and effects across an extensive range of lighting and components available. Every aspect of your setup can be completely customised and lighting can be controlled through Aura Sync software. The aesthetics of the Hero VI make the board look ultra modern and will look good in any system it gets put into. The board features multiple separate headers for Aura compatible components and accessories such as fans, LED lighting and more.
Asus is the first motherboard manufacturer that supports 3D printing, this allows extra customisation for your motherboard to improve aesthetics and also to make it your own. Of course, it is limited to the Cable Cover and M.2 Fan Holder. However, this does mean it could be an enticing opportunity to add your own personal spin to the board. You can actually create your own 3D printed accessories too such as a 2-way SLI HB Bridge Cover, Fan Grills or Cable Combs using Asus Rog certified plans.
The choice to put an AM4 Socket into the Crosshair VI Hero was an obvious one. The raw potential that AMD’s Ryzen processors possess makes this board the perfect choice. The board comes with an intelligent auto-tuner that allows users to overclock with a single click. The cooling of the board is excellent with large and adequate heat sinks all around and plenty of expandability options for extra cooling in the form of fans, coolers or a custom loop.
The ROG Crosshair VI Hero will be available to purchase at leading sellers as early as August, availability elsewhere is unknown as of yet. However, it shouldn’t be much later on. The board has a suggested MSRP of $349. Will you be joining AMD in its return to the Crosshair series?
