ASUS ROG Keris Optical Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The ASUS ROG Keris Ultra Lightweight Wired Gaming Mouse is available for around £62 on Amazon UK and $90 in the US. That’s about £10 more than other high-end ultralight mice, but not wholly overpriced, given the features and quality this one offers. It has a truly stunning level of build quality and performance, and it seems like a fair price to me.

Overview

ASUS has created a few very impressive mice over the years, and overall, it seems they really know what they’re doing. This isn’t their most advanced or expensive model, far from it, but it’s still extremely competitive overall. It falls into the trendy ultralight category, clocking in at just 62 grams, it’s not the lightest out there, but it’s still on the lighter side for sure. It moves effortlessly, and those four Teflon feet make light work of a light mouse.

The sensor is also flawless, but I wouldn’t have expected anything less, really. It tracks perfectly at any DPI level and can deal with the most hardcore eSports players fast hands. I’m too slow, old and fat to be that competitive, but for my daily work and gaming, the mouse is never going to let me down, that’s for sure.

Switches

The pre-installed ASUS switches are really nice. I’m sure your average gamer couldn’t give a flip who makes em, but I appreciate that ASUS put the effort in here. Their switches click like any other, but they do feel different. If that’s what they think are better than the competition, then fair play to them. The fact they even went beyond that and give you the option to swap the switches out is fantastic, as it can really change the feel of the mouse. It’s nice they include an alternative set in the box too.

Quality

This is an ultralight mouse, but you wouldn’t know it from the build quality. It’s incredibly strong, with no panel flex, nothing lose, or anything. If this is the quality AFTER removing a load of materials, it makes you wonder why we ever had those materials in there in the first place. Plus, using fewer plastics in a product just feels like the right thing to do anyway. The Paracord cable sleeving, the Teflon feet, the vivid RGB LED lights, and the PBT buttons… all of these things add up to a premium quality product inside and out.

Should I Buy One?

There are a lot of great mice out there for this price, and I really do mean a LOT. However, premium build quality, flawless performance, modular switches, and a well-trusted and respected brand name make this an easy mouse to recommend. It may have some stiff competition, but the ASUS Keris will easily go head to head with any of them all day long.
