All of the Z390 motherboards managed to get our i9-9900K to 5 GHz on all cores. However, how the motherboards dealt with the heat of the new CPU is what made the big differences. Those VRM and the power delivery needs to be superb to meet such extreme demands. Fortunately, none of this was an issue for the Formula! It scored a truly superb 24549 points in 3DMark, which is a big boost from the stock performance of 23919. Of course, that makes it that highest 3DMark score we’ve had to date for any motherboard, and it’s a full 50 points ahead of second place.
The WPrime scores were excellent also, coming in 3rd place with 2919 and 78.186 seconds. However, the scores between the top three (from Z390) are so close, I’m inclined to say they’re in joint first place. The only one that didn’t top the charts is Cinebench, but 219 single core and 2186 is still nothing to complain about, and a big step up from the 218/2071 it scored at stock.
