The XT12 is impressive, but its features and price are likely a bit too much for most consumers. That’s where the XT8 comes in, and while it’s not quite as powerful as the XT12, keep in mind, that the XT8 is still by far more powerful than most routers on the market today. A single unit is good for 2750 sq ft with a double will do around 5500. The tri-band WiFi 6 configuration is more than twice as fast as the previous WiFi 5 models. That means you can manage multiple high-speed WiFi devices around your home, streaming 8K video, dealing with larger file transfers and more.
For those with a larger family to connect and protect, you’ll find advanced parental controls and security features. Furthermore, the WiFi capabilities make it well suited to larger smart-home projects, so if you have lot of smart lights, WiFi cameras and sensors, etc, the extended range is going to be a big advantage. Plus, it’ll be great for online gaming too, being easily able to deliver low-latency WiFi to PC gamers and the latest consoles, or even for cloud gaming services. It’s not cheap, but for those with a family that all love to be connected, streaming and gaming, it’s a solid investment.
