Final Thoughts

Price

The ASUS ROG Ryou is priced between £160-£180. In terms of liquid coolers, this does seem quite costly. You do, however, have to remember that this cooler offers many features that other brands don’t. A good example of this would be the highly impressive performance figures given for a 240mm cooler.

What is, however, the biggest selling point has to be that customisable 1.77″ screen to the pump block. It’s a fantastic touch which would clearly appeal to many high-end system builders looking for that unique touch.

With a 3-year warranty as well, despite all the flash, you can be confident that this cooler has been built to last!

Design and Ease Of Use

I don’t think it unfair to say that in terms of the design, while the fans and radiator have some nice touches, the real aesthetic emphasis has almost entirely been placed on the pump block and the OLED display. It would have perhaps been a little nicer to see a few more touches to the other areas, then again, many companies often struggle to make what is essentially the rather boring part fun!

For ease of use, from a hardware perspective, the manual could be better. As such, beginners might trip up or struggle to understand the installation on more than a few steps. For anyone even lightly experienced in CPU installations though, it’s all relatively intuiative and straightforward.

In terms of the lighting software, it’s a doddle. Simply get your required image, set it to the correct dimensions, and upload it!

Overview

The ASUS ROG Ryou looks to offer consumers something special in terms of liquid coolers. The OLED display does, however, pretty much sum that up in a nutshell. I can’t help but feel it would, perhaps, have been a little nicer to see more attention to the aesthetics in other areas, but I guess we can’t have it all.

In terms of performance though, this definitely fits the bill there! This is, without a doubt, a fully-fledged high-performance AIO liquid cooler. The simple fact that this provides such excellent results is a clear indication of that. Yes, it’s not very quiet in what it does, but you don’t buy a high-performance car expecting the engine to be whisper quiet!

The ASUS ROG Ryou has many areas it can improve on, in terms of pure looks and performance though, it’s a fantastic and unique option for any system build enthusiast.

Pros

  • Excellent performance temperatures.
  • The customisable OLED display offers something very unique and fun!
  • Easy to install
  • 3-year warranty.
  • A product with that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’.

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Cooling fans are rather loud and default to a ‘full speed’ setting.
  • The manual would be better with more localisation.
  • Perhaps a little too pricey to attract the more casual market.
