ASUS ROG Spatha Wireless/Wired Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer Look

The Spatha is unlike any mouse I’ve seen before, starting with the fact that it’s one of the biggest mice I’ve ever tested, which is great because I have big hands and I’m already excited about the fact this mouse actually fits my palm grip. Down the front you’ve got a flat cutaway design with some funky looking fins, above that the usual LMB and RMB, but also a second set of buttons just off to the side.

The Mayan-inspired durable rubber grip not only looks awesome but does add excellent grip points for both palm and claw grips, while a small wing provides a comfortable thumb resting point below the side switches. There are six fully programmable thumb switches and you’ll notice that they’re laid out in a rather cool looking ROG-eye format, with a little LED lighting between the gaps that we’ll see in action shortly.

Around the back, an LED lit ROG logo as well as a good look at the magnesium chassis that covers the bottom of the mouse.

There’s even more rubber grip on the right side, as well as a large ergonomic cut-out that provides you with a comfortable finger resting position.

There’s a recessed USB port hiding at the front, this means that if you are using the mouse in wireless mode, it’s not going to screw up the overall aesthetics, but that using the cable will also help it blend in seamlessly with the mouse body.

The magnesium base is super cool, adding both durability and style to the mouse. There are a few slipmats for extra glide, four rubber pegs covering the screw holes, charging contact points, a master power switch, and a pairing button.

Opening up the mouse, and making good use of the included tool to do so, we can see a good size battery and all the other usual hardware.

However, what I really came to see is those easy-swap switch mounts. As you can see, we’ve got two pre-installed switches here.

Simply pull it out with your fingers and plug in the spare/replacement, this is a very easy job to do and a really cool feature for the Spatha.
