The Helios is pretty huge, but given it supports a 420mm radiator up front and EATX motherboards, that’s hardly a surprise. Of course, that’s good news for the enthusiasts that want to go big on their next build. Plus, with those huge tempered glass windows on the left and right side, you’ll be showing off that hardware easily enough too. The glass is clear, but it has a plastic covering on it which I’m leaving on until the final build.
A simple warning sticker on how to handle the glass, and ya know… reminding you not to break it.
More glass down this side. It looks pretty dark I know, but it is backed onto black metal. It still looks great though, but I always think it’s really overkill to have glass on this side, while others may love it, it’s certainly subjective.
Up on the front, you’ll find even more glass. Now, this does look very dark with the lights off and those fans behind it. However, it is clear glass with some custom etching that will certainly show its self once we power the system up. Just you wait and see!
The top of the Helios is laced up like a running shoe with ultra-tough straps that form a padded carry handle. Now, I’m not kidding when I ask “Do you even lift bro?” because even without a system inside it, this is a heavy chassis.
It’s also bloody massive, so if you’re 6ft and can lift your own weight… go nuts! That being said, I love the aesthetic aspect of them, it’s just so bonkers and not needed that I can’t help enjoy them.
The extra graphics are cool too.
The front panel is fantastic too, with a mostly symmetrical design that is only thrown off by a reset button on the right. There are four USB ports here, as well as a Type-C in the middle. Loving the red custom colour too, as it shows ASUS is putting effort into the little details.
Even if you do or don’t have Aura Sync, you’ll have control over your RGB right from the front I/O. Here you can cycle through the effects and modes with a simple tap of a button. Again, a custom button too, rather than just some off the shelf component.
If that’s not enough, you’ll even be able to control your fan speeds from this side. Toggle from low to high when you’re gaming, and back when you’re just working or watching a movie; perfect!
The whole chassis is meticulously filtered too. You’ll find a lift out filter in the front, on the bottom, and on the top. They’re very well made, and you just un-clip it, give it a quick hoover and put it back. It couldn’t be easier than that.
Plus, with the top one removed, you get access to the top fan/radiator mounts, making for a much easier install. The attention to detail is superb though, just look at those lines on the interior. Not only that, but they give it added strength as well as added style.
Around the back of the Helios, you’ll find no big surprises, as this bit has to be compatible with just about everything. Just like the rest of the chassis though, it’s finished in black, so it all blends in nicely enough.
There’s a 120/140mm fan mounting, with a 140mm pre-installed. I love that they’ve given it long screw holes though, so you can adjust the height for compatibility.
EATX support means you’ll find eight expansion slots, making it ideal for multi-GPU configurations. Even more so, as you have a pair of vertical expansion slots that you could use with a riser cable (sold separately).
At the bottom, we have the PSU mounting. You need to remove this bracket and mount that to your PSU to install it. Of course, that’s not uncommon, but it can be a bit tricky if you have a PSU with a lot of cables.
