ASUS RoG STRIX Helios Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Unfortunately, at the time of writing I couldn’t see it in stock in the US or in the UK. However, we do know that it should be around £250 in the UK, and equivalent in the US. That’s a lot of money, but it’s a lot of chassis! That puts it on par with other flagships, such as the Corsair Crystal 680X RGB, or even the Obsidian 500D RGB. The Deepcool Dukase, the NZXT H700i, or the Lian Li PC-011WW, to name but a few. All of which offer fairly competitive premium features for the enthusiast market.
Overvew
Admittedly, the retail price puts this one out of the reach of the mass market. That being said, it’s not designed for the mass market either. This is an enthusiast chassis built for extreme systems. I bet that once you factor in the kind of PC this chassis is designed for, the chassis will still be the cheapest component of the build.
Extreme Support
With room for an EATX motherboard, massive radiators, multiple expansion cards, huge PSUs and more. There’s no doubt the Helios can handle just about anything you throw at it and then some. I’m sure the custom-loop lovers out there will appreciate the space it offers. However, I love it as an air-cooled chassis too. It has four fantastic fans pre-installed as standard, excellent quality dust filters, and good airflow overall.
Aesthetics and Build Quality
This is built to stand proudly on display. Sure, those carry handles imply that it’s somewhat portable, but it’s really not. It’s a temple of glass and heavy-duty materials that make it pretty damn heavy. They do, however, look awesome strapped through the top panel. Even little details like the lovely front I/O panel, and even the underside of the dust filters, all look stunning. Attention to detail is high here, and the build quality is even higher.
The addition of a PSU shroud, with its own cable routing and PSU viewing window. The well-integrated cable routing and rear cable shroud, the GPU support arms, and other little details, all add up to a premium experience for any system builder.
Should I Buy One?
I honestly can’t recommend such an expensive chassis in general. This isn’t something you “need” but something you would just have to love at first sight and want in your life. For me, it certainly does that. The incredible design of the front panel glass alone sets this chassis apart from the crowd. Sure, it’s not cheap, but ASUS has gone above and beyond to help justify that cost.
