With the launch of the RX 460 imminent on August 8th, more leaks have surfaced for the first Polaris 11 graphics card from AMD. Unlike the RX 480 launch which has seen custom models lag behind the reference launch, the RX 460 will follow the RX 470 example with custom AIB board partner cards launching at the same time. First to have their slides leaked is ASUS with their ROG STRIX RX 460.
As expected, ASUS has kept with their DirectCU II technology, offering a dual fan cooler with wing blade fans. While similar to the STRIX RX 470, the cooler is fin array is noticeably shorter and the two heat pipes are less impressive. ASUS is claiming that their card is 30% cooler and 3X quieter than the reference edition. Given the more than adequate cooling solution, there is no surprise that the card will be better than the reference.
In terms of performance, the card features a slight factory overclock to 1256 Mhz in OC mode and 1236 Mhz in gaming mode. This is only a tad higher than the reference 1200 Mhz but the card should be more capable at hold its boost clocks. Rounding off the package, we have optional orange inserts along with AURA RGB LED lighting. Lastly, the card features the reference display outputs of 1 DP, 1 DVI and 1 HMDI.
