ASUS ROG STRIX RX 6700 XT Graphics Card Review

How Much Does It Cost?
While we have no official pricing, we have heard partner cards will likely be anywhere from $599 up to $789. Being a ROG STRIX card we do expect this to be at the higher end of that range as with everything else going on, there will be a bit of ‘ROG’ tax as well. We will look to revisit prices on all of our RX 6700 XT cards in a week or so time once they have been out for a bit.
Overview
While we saw all our 6700 XT’s perform similar in gaming results, the ROG STRIX stands out in one aspect, Thermal Performance! The ROG STRIX RX 6700 XT absolutely smashed the Thermal testing and came in at least 10°c cooler than the competition and a massive 23°c cooler than AMD’s reference model. If thermals are what you are worried about, this is a clear winner in our eyes!
Should I Buy One?
If your main concern when purchasing an RX 6700 XT is getting the model that offers the best out of the box thermal performance, yes buy one! If you’re more interested in overall performance than it is really hard to recommend one model over the others as they all perform very similar at the time of launch. The price to performance ratio of the RX 6700 XT cards is going to be all over the place due to whatever price they are actually released at.
SAM
We have tested SAM on our reference RX 6700 XT as the performance on all 6700 XT’s was quite similar. In most tests, we saw an 8-15% increase in FPS although in some games we saw 0 difference and this should be similar for all 6700 XT cards. In order to use SAM, you will need a 6xxx series GPU, 5xxx Series CPU and a B550/X570 with all the current updates for your system. We may revisit this in comparison to NVIDIA’s Resizable BAR in the future when it is more readily available.
