Are you looking forward to the next-generation of Intel CPUs? If you are, then you’ll need to invest in the latest X299 chipset equipped motherboards, such as the ASUS RoG X299-E Gaming we have in the office today! Intel Core X-Series processors use the latest LGA 2066 socket, which offers more cores on the i9-series chips, more PCI-e lanes, and more performance.
“ROG Strix X299-E Gaming is loaded with powerful tuning, overclocking, cooling and personalization innovations to make your next build as agile as your ambitions. We’ve channelled ROG engineering ingenuity into Strix X299-E Gaming to create a standout ATX motherboard that’s tricked out with superior SupremeFX audio for deeper in-game immersion, Aura Sync lighting with an all-new addressable-RGB-strip header to unleash infinite illumination possibilities, and special mounts that make it easy to create your own 3D-printed upgrades. Infused with the essential gaming spirit that is ROG, Strix X299-E Gaming is hungry for high-performance Intel® Core™ X-Series processors — and ready to satisfy your desire for X299.” – ASUS
First off, let’s take a quick overview of the motherboard design and features. Check out our video below.
Equipped with the latest X299 chipset, the Gaming-E brings support for the latest Intel processors. However, it comes with plenty more features that add to the overall value for anyone building a new gaming system.
You’ll find RGB LED lighting, with Aura Sync technology. Robust connectivity with Intel Gigabit Ethernet, LANGuard GameFirst, and 2×2 801802.11ac Wi-Fi. Of course, you’re also going to get DDR4 4133MHz, dual M.2, SATA 6Gbps and a USB 3.1 Gen 2 front panel connectors, so you should get great performance from all your other hardware too.
While this may not be their flagship motherboard, it still packs all the features you would want from a high-end gaming motherboard. That includes robust overclocking features that will allow you to squeeze more performance out of the new X-Series processors. With Pro Clock II, you can adjust the BCLK to any number you like, even pushing beyond 400MHz, allowing you to fine tune the system, improving CPU and memory stability and clock speeds.
ASUS PRO CLOCK II TECHNOLOGY
“A dedicated base-clock (BCLK) generator designed for Intel Core X series processors allows overclocked base-clock frequencies up to or beyond 400MHz*. This custom solution works in tandem with the ASUS TurboV Processing Unit (TPU) to enhance voltage and base-clock overclocking control, providing an exciting new way to boost performance to extreme heights.” – ASUS
High-quality chokes and VRM cooling will ensure clean power delivery to your CPU, and enhanced stability.
The CPU isn’t the only thing getting some love here. The three full-sized PCIe slots are reinforced with armour, ensuring they can handle the heaviest GPUs on the market. They also look cooler too, matching up with the black and grey finish of the rest of the motherboard.
The M.2 performance has its perks too, with the chipset heat sink flowing further along the board, providing passive cooling and armour to the M.2 slot.
With a shielded section of the motherboard, SupremeFX features the latest S1220A codec and high-quality gold capacitors to deliver powerful and accurate sound.
“ROG Strix’s SupremeFX audio solution is engineered to provide a flat frequency response and offer a neutral, detailed sound signature. The addition of two op-amps on the front panel headphone output ensures adequate voltage and current to drive headphones to their full potential. And our Sonic Studio software grants you full control over every aspect of audio, including noise reduction algorithms for communications, plus EQ adjustments to get the most from your headset or speakers.” – ASUS
Equipped with fan and water pump controls right on the motherboard, you can easily hook up all of your systems cooling hardware. Fan Xpert 4 will help you set fan curves and pump speeds to ensure you get the best performance and silence from your system when needed most.
“Play quieter and cooler with advanced fan and water-pump controls for the ultimate in undisturbed gaming. With onboard thermal sensors and hardware-level 4-pin/3-pin PWM/DC mode detection. Fan Xpert 4 makes sure every fan achieves the best balance of high cooling performance and low noise. So you enjoy all the performance you demand with none of the racket!” – ASUS

Equipped with the latest Intel Ethernet Controller I219-V, the Gaming-E promises faster, smoother gaming. This is thanks to lower CPU overhead but greatly improved TCP and UDP throughput. However, If you’re powering your gaming life using WiFi, you’ll find the new 802.11ac standard. The WiFi uses 2×2 dual-band 2.4/5GHz antennas offer up to 867Mbps transfer speeds!
Unfortunately, we cannot reveal these details just yet. However, we do have this hardware in the office and are busy testing the performance right now. That means one thing, it’s coming very soon! Of course, we will update you as soon as we’re allowed. We’re eager to show more information about this motherboard.
