The STRIX X870E-E Gaming WiFi is an ATX board featuring an 8-layer PCB, which is standard for most high-performance ATX boards and provides ample layers for efficient power and signal routing.
The board’s power delivery system is powered by the Infineon ASP2205 PWM controller, which oversees the robust 18+2+2 phase design. ASUS has used this controller in previous chipsets, such as the X670E series, where it has demonstrated solid reliability under demanding workloads. For the power stages, the board employs Vishay SiC850A 110A Smart Power Stages (SPS), a potent choice that provides the necessary headroom for extreme overclocking and heavy CPU loads. These same SPS phases have been deployed successfully in ASUS’s high-end X670E motherboards, such as the Crosshair Hero, highlighting their effectiveness in high-performance scenarios.
The Richtek RT3672EE buck controller manages the miscellaneous phases, a consistent component in ASUS boards, including the X670/X670E lineup, ensuring compliance with AMD’s SVI3 standards.
