Asus ROG Vulcan ANC Pro Gaming Headset Review

Asus are one of the biggest names on the market, famed for their motherboards, graphics cards and other solutions. Most famously of all of course is the Republic of Gamers brand, also known as ROG. It’s with the ROG brand that they have pushed many of the latest and greatest gaming components of this generation and while Asus has some impressive internal system components, they have also created some impressive peripherals such as the one I will be taking a look at today, the Asus ROG Vulcan ANC PRO Gaming Headset.

“For years since its establishment, ASUS aimed to put an ever-greater emphasis on PC gaming. This process resulted in the 2006 founding of the Republic of Gamers brand (ROG), formed for the sole purpose of delivering the most innovative hardcore hardware for truly dedicated gamers.” – rog.asus.com

As you can see, the ROG brand think quite highly of their own products and you can’t go around claiming to have the most innovative hardcore hardware for truly dedicated gamers if you don’t have the goods to back it up, fortunate then that Asus / ROG have already proven themselves time and time again with their high end components. What I want to find out today of course is whether or not the same can be said about the Vulcan ANC headset. Is it just another common addition to the already crowded PC gaming headset market or does it offer something unique that makes it stand out from the crowd? Let’s take a closer look and find out.

As you can see, the packing comes styled with the common ROG colours of black, red and white although if that wasn’t enough of a clue then we still have the ROG logo on just about every surface of the box, on the side of the headset, in the image and no doubt a few other places. The front of the box features a stylish photograph of the headset and a few marketing quotes such as “The first ANC for gamers”.

Opening the front cover of the box is much more revealing as we find a clear window in the box to display a zip-lock hard case which contains the headset, while the left side of the box features a diagram of the headset and highlights some of its features.

Around the back of the box there is a much lighter focus on marketing quotes and phrases, here we have the hardcore details and specifications of the headset and its accessories. 85% active noise cancellation, 30dB noise isolation, lightweight 325g design and 40mm drivers are the main highlights here but judging by the specifications it looks like the Vulcan ANC should be something a little special in terms of headset performance.

In the box I found a simple quick start guide, warrant booklet and the zip-lock carry case for the headset.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
