Synthetic Benchmarks

3DMark Firestrike

As one of the flagship motherboards of the ASUS range, you would expect stunning performance. It doesn’t disappoint either, setting a blazing score in 3DMark Fire Strike, although the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon holds a small lead for X399. Overclocking was interesting though, as it put the Zenith X399 AMD and the Gaming 9 X299 Intel virtually head to head.

Straight away, a new high score. Of course, it’s not a huge margin, but fastest is still fastest no matter which way you look at it. Overclocking saw just a 3pt lead, but it’s a lead none the less.

PCMark 10 Express

Threadripper and PCMark 10 do not go together well, it’s a benchmark that favors the faster clock speeds of modern quad-core CPUs. It’s still a good score though, but I think some software and BIOS updates are required to show the true worth of the motherboard and Threadripper here.

Again, another stellar score, the Gaming 7 tipped a small lead but the Zenith quickly snatched back first place as soon as we overclocked it. Either way, these are the fastest scores we’ve ever recorded, and that’s something ASUS can be proud of.

Cinebench R15

At stock clocks, the Zenith set one of our best ever scores. It lost the lead while overclocked, and I honestly can’t figure out why, but it’s still a very good score regardless.

Another fantastic score for the Zenith, hitting an incredible 73.5FPS. Of course, the Intel X299 did the same score, but it’s still great to see AMD and Intel going head to head on the extreme performance tests. Overclocking did cause quite a bit of throttling, but we’re hoping that improves with BIOS and software updates, and a freaking massive CPU cooler wouldn’t hurt either.
