ASUS RP-AC87 Wireless AC2600 Dual-Band Repeater Review

Browser GUI: Access Point Mode

The last of the three modes is the Access Point mode. An access point is more or less a router without the internet functions. It allows you to connect other devices to your network while it handles the connection details.

Most pages in this mode are similar to what we’ve seen in the other two modes, but it has the most comprehensive wireless settings.

The first wireless settings page makes it clear that we have more settings, for example, we have control over the wireless channel.

In access point mode, we also get access to the WPS settings for easy connection between wireless devices.

Wireless bridge mode, or WDS, is another option we get in this device mode.

The use of a RADIUS server is also supported, but home users probably won’t use this feature a lot. On the other hand, companies will welcome it.

We saw a professional settings page within the extender mode too, but this one is different. It allows you to manipulate the signal further.
