Asus Sabertooth X79 Motherboard Review
PCMark 7
PCMark 7 provides a set of 7 suites for measuring different aspects of PC performance with a high degree of accuracy. Overall system performance is measured by the PCMark Suite. The Lightweight Suite measures the capabilities of entry level systems and mobility platforms unable to run the full PCMark suite. Common use performance is measured by the Entertainment, Creativity and Productivity scenario suites. Component performance is measured by the Computation and Storage hardware suites. The Storage suite is ideal for testing SSDs and external hard drives in addition to the system drive.
Whilst the Sabertooth X79 results are fairly good, the Z68 based system does edge ahead which we believe that the architecture of dual channel memory still has an upper hand over quad channel and this has been reflected in the score. When overclocking we saw a slight increase over the Z68, but it’s worth noting that the Z68 system can still be overclocked too.
Nice review. Too bad there is no z68 version of this board. The only negative thing is probably the fact that it will be hard to find a buyer for this mb once you decide to upgrade because this style is really not for everyone.
As you stated Asus are making quite a few boards, I agree that this board may not be for everyone, but the fact is that it is there if you require it, I am afraid that any of the top end boards that Asus produce are out of my price range, but if you can afford it and this is just what you require, then go for it. It all really depends on the end user, once again Andy nice review.
My Tweet and Share buttons don't seem to be working so can't share.
