Asus introduced quite a large amount of products at CES, including this new nettop, the Eee Box EB1031 powered by Intel’s Atom D2700 Cedar Trail (2.13 GHz).
Specifications wise, it can be equipped with up to 4GB of RAM, features a 2.5″ hard drive disk bay for up to 500GB of storage. Through a HDMI output, this nettop can reproduce Full HD 1080p content, making it a perfect media centre. Another VGA display output is also provided to plug a another display.
Connectivity in general has been well implemented, with the back featuring two USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet port and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, the front is equipped with four USB 2.0 port, audio and mic as well as a 4-in-1 built-in card reader.
Asus seems to have put a lot of thought into it, both for size and design, its small profile allowing it to save space or to be placed in ‘crowdy’ environments, while its design make sure to blend in any media/entertainment setup. Yet it seems Asus did look into a more business approach, but either way, the EB1031 should fit in easily in any work environment.
