Asus just announced its limited edition ROG ARES II Graphic card (only 1000 units will be shipped according to a post made by the ASUS ROG Facebook page).
The GPU uses two fully fledged HD 7970 GHZ Edition GPUs clocked at 1100MHz and it comes with 6GB of GDDR5 running at 1650/6600MHz (actual/effective) memory clock. This card comes with a recommended PSU rating of 850w that can give at least 42 amps on the 12V Rail and therefore it takes power from three 8 Pin connectors.
The cooling is a hybrid setup. Asus uses a custom cooler which uses liquid and air cooling. A closed loop liquid radiator is provided with two 120mm fans with an 80mm ‘dust-proof’ fan to give cooling to the critical components on the card, like the VRM and memory chips. Asus claim that it can achieve 13% more performance while being 30 degrees Celsius cooler compared to a reference version of the nVidia GTX 690.
The card comes with two Dual-link DVI connectors and four display port connectors, but you get a DVI-to-HDMI adapter and three 8 pin power cable adaptors.
