ASUS Teases New ROG Pascal GPUs

After launching earlier this month, the GTX 1080 Founders Edition are set to drop later this week. While those appear to be selling well, many customers are likely holding out for custom cards from AIB partners. Those cards are set to drop in June, but many firms have already teased their cards. Joining the crowd today is ASUS, teasing their own custom solution for the Pascal cards.

Using a Twitter post, ASUS has teased their latest ROG Republic of Gamers GPU. As we’ve come to expect from top-end GPUs these days, there has to be RGB LEDs present. From the teaser image, we can see that it’s a triple fan design. This marks quite a difference from the current ROG lineup, especially once you consider the GTX 980Ti designs only use 2 fans for 250W TDP while the GTX 1080 will only be 180W TDP. This leads me to speculate that this might not be an ROG card, rather a Strix 0dB card.

If the card ends up not being an ROG model and is a simpler Strix, we’ll likely see the same cooler used for the GTX 1070. Given past history, we may even see the same cooler used for Polaris 10 from AMD as well. Hopefully, we’ll see custom cards arriving soon and see where the GTX 1080 will end up overclocked.
