How Much Does It Cost?
The ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI D4 is one of the most affordable mid-range Intel motherboards on the market right now. It costs just £143 at the time of writing, which is frankly a bargain given that this is a TUF Series board and comes with some nicely upgraded hardware to provide more durability and stability to your system build.
Overview
ASUS has a long history of great motherboards, and their reputation for their performance is unwavering, while the ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI D4 isn’t the fastest motherboard we’ve ever tested, it’s certainly the most affordable on our charts at this time, so to see it compete with boards that cost twice as much in CPU benchmarks and in terms of gaming performance is pretty fantastic, especially given that it uses the older DDR4 memory format rather than the latest DDR5 memory.
However, combined with the lower cost of the motherboard, and the fact you can likely use your older RAM if you’re upgrading your motherboard, it’s a fantastic way to get into the latest Intel CPUs without spending a small fortune on the process. Plus, you still get a PCIe 5.0 slot so you can take advantage of the latest graphics cards and get the best performance from them.
It doesn’t feature the latest Gen5 M.2 either, but honestly, Gen4 M.2 is hardly lacking in performance with drives able to hit around 8000 MB/s, which is more than enough for a modern high-end work or gaming PC build. But it does have a lot of other perks, such as 2.5 GbE LAN, and fast WiFi 6, so networking should be great. You get the latest USB 3.2 Gen2x2 for fast transfer speeds, and there’s support for Thunderbolt USB4 too, which is surprising given the lower cost of the board. ASUS has a great track record for great quality audio too, and with the board supporting 24-bit/192 kHz playback.
The VRM configuration is great too, with a 12+2 design, 5K Black Capacitors and TUF Chokes, as well as a significant set of heatsinks ensuring that power delivery and temperatures are never going to be an issue. This means you can push the latest Intel CPUs to their limits and maintain those boost clocks for as long as you like with no compromise.
Should I Buy One?
The low cost of this motherboard is certainly its biggest appeal, but the fact that it still delivers competitive overall system performance, great gaming performance and robust connectivity makes it a real winner for those looking for a well-rounded motherboard that doesn’t cost the Earth.
