 GTX 1080 STRIX A8G

As has just revealed its GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX A8G graphics card, which is basically a lower clocked variant of the initial GTX 1080 STRIX O8G that spearheaded the company’s GTX 1080 lineup. To be more specific, this card features clock speeds of 1670 MHz core and 1809 MHz GPU Boost, while the original STRIX O8G had 1759 MHz core and 1898 MHz GPU Boost. When compared to Nvidia’s reference clocks of 1607 MHz core and 1733 MHz GPU Boost, this new Asus card is still faster, and with the included GPUTweak II utility, users will actually be able to squeeze even more power out of it, namely 1695 MHz core and 1835 MHz GPU Boost.

Apart from the aforementioned clock speeds, the product has an identical configuration with the STRIX OC. This means that we’re looking at a 10-phase VRM that draws power from a mix of 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connectors, while a pair of 4-pin PWM fan headers can be used to sync up  case fans to the GPU’s temperature. The DirectCU III cooling solution comes with a large aluminum fin-stack heatsink complemented by five copper heat pipes that are in direct contact with the GPU. Lastly, the  ASUS Aura RGB LED lighting decorates the cooler shroud and its three 100 mm fans. Considering the lower clock speeds, the Asus GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX A8G should cost somewhere between 5-10% less when compared to the original model.
