ASUS Unveils ROG STRIX GTX 1070

After unveiling their ROG STRIX GTX 1080 earlier, ASUS has also revealed their more budget friendly option. The ROG STRIX GTX 1070 offers pretty much the same cooler as the ROG STRIX GTX 1080 but with the cheaper GP104-200 die from Nvidia.

Starting off, ASUS has applied a factory overclock of 1885 MHz boost clock. This quite a decent OC right from the start, over 10% over the stock boost speed. Their new DirectCU III cooler also features their patented Wing-Blade Fans for 30% cooler operation and being 3X quieter. As part of the STRIX lineup, the card also features 0dB operation when the card is idle. In addition, the card also has Aura RGB Lighting to allow for customized LEDs on the card to let users suit to any build they prefer.

For overclocking, ASUS has equipped the card with their 6+1 Phase Super Alloy Power II. The addition of extra PCIe power connectors will also ensure that the card won’t be limited when it comes to power. Of course, given the lower TDP of the GTX 1070, the card should have even more headroom compared to the GTX 1080. For display connectivity, we have a DVI-D, 2 DisplayPorts, and 2 HDMI 2.0 connectors. ASUS has not revealed any word on pricing yet but I expect it will be below $449.
