ASUS Unveils WS X299 Pro SE Motherboard

ASUS is releasing a new X299 motherboard for workstations, supporting Intel’s X-Series HEDT CPUs. The ASUS WS X299 Pro SE is a ‘Special Edition’ version of ASUS’ WS X299 Pro board. As such, it adds an ASUS ASMB9-iKVM IPMI 2.0 compliant remote management chip. Specifically, the chip handles remote management features, such as iKVM, remote BIOS updates, and BSOD capture. In fact, the system uses ASPEED AST2500, supported by ASUS’ custom firmware. The remote management chip is housed beneath a secondary VRM heatsink, which it dissipates heat to through a thermal pad.
