Even though a great deal of attention surrounds Intel’s upcoming Kaby Lake desktop release, it’s important to remember that the mobile versions have already been released. As a result, manufacturers are beginning to update their existing mobile product line-ups and move beyond Skylake. Recently, ASUS refreshed an impressive number of ultrabooks which includes the ZenBook UX330 and UX310, the VivoBook X556 and X456, and the K401. All of the models barring the K401 now sport an Intel Core i7-7200U while the K401 employs the Intel Core i7-7500U. As you might expect, the Intel Core i7-7500U has a higher frequency and utilises 4MB of cache compared to the Intel Core i7-7200U’s 2MB.
Unfortunately, there’s no information regarding the pricing increase as of yet compared to the previous configurations. Hopefully, the price will be relatively similar and within people’s budgets. I’m pleased to see manufacturers update their hardware range in such a quick fashion and look forward to trying out products with a Kaby Lake processor. ASUS creates a premium series of Ultrabooks and the Kaby Lake support will make them even more appealing.
Are you looking forward to Kaby Lake’s desktop variants?
