Asus SA revealed the specs of their cheap tablet may cost $226- ME-172V – packed with android Jelly bean OS and a 7 Inch capacitive screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, VIA WM8950 processor, Mali 400 graphics with 1 gig ram.
More about the specs, it has 8GB of storage with MicroSD for storage expansion and 4270 mAH Battery. and 1 megapixel camera on the front.
Although the release date and picture of the tablet isn’t provided in the source, one will wonder if Asus would reveal such device during CES 2013. This isn’t the first time for Asus to make a low cost mobile device – and since Asus does make devices for Google, it shouldn’t be surprising that such a device could be what Asus would plan to release eventually. Afterall, having a cheap tablet provides a lot of choices for certain type of consumers and their requirements/budget.
It probably would have been a good idea if it came with an ARM A8 processor, or it could be more cheaper. Hopefully, there is a variant of such tablets that Asus is working on, so that consumers can pick one accordingly. Let’s not forget that Asus did flood the netbook market with a lot of Atom powered processors.
