Cinebench R11.5
CINEBENCH is a real-world cross platform test suite that evaluates your computer’s performance capabilities. CINEBENCH is based on MAXON’s award-winning animation software CINEMA 4D, which is used extensively by studios and production houses worldwide for 3D content creation. MAXON software has been used in blockbuster movies such as Spider-Man, Star Wars, The Chronicles of Narnia and many more. CINEBENCH is the perfect tool to compare CPU and graphics performance across various systems and platforms (Windows and Mac OS X). And best of all: It’s completely free.
With Cinebench we found that having EIST enabled, there was a significant difference over overclocking the board by the BLCK.
Handbrake
HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.
Supported Sources:
- Most common multimedia files that libavformat and libavcodec support.
- Any DVD or Bluray-like source which is NOT copy-protected. (removal of copy protection is not supported)
Outputs:
- File format: MP4(M4V) and MKV
- Video: H.264(x264), MPEG-4(ffmpeg), MPEG-2(ffmpeg), or Theora(libtheora)
- Audio: AAC, CoreAudio AAC/HE-AAC (OS X Only), MP3, Flac, or Vorbis. AC-3, DTS, DTS-HD, AAC and MP3 pass-thru
When encoding to .mp4, we found that the raised BCLK gave a mid way performance level between having EIST enabled and disabled. having EIST enabled gave an encode time of over a minute faster.
Encode times to .mkv were virtually the same and so we found that having EIST enabled gave the best level of performance.
Euler3D
The benchmark testcase is the AGARD 445.6 aeroelastic test wing. The wing uses a NACA 65A004 airfoil section and has a panel aspect ratio of 1.65, a taper ratio of 0.66, and a 45 degree quarter-chord sweep angle. This AGARD wing was tested at the NASA Langley Research Center in the 16-foot Transonic Dynamics Tunnel and is a standard aeroelastic test case used for validation of unsteady, compressible CFD codes. Figure 1 shows the CFD predicted Mach contours for a freestream Mach number of 0.960.
Figure 1: AGARD 445.6 Mach Contours at Mach 0.960.
The benchmark CFD grid contains 1.23 million tetrahedral elements and 223 thousand nodes. The benchmark executable advances the Mach 0.50 AGARD flow solution
Like we have found with the previous rendering tests, performance is at its optimum with EIST enabled with an output time of 24.68 seconds.
Blender Render
Blender provides a broad spectrum of modeling, texturing, lighting, animation and video post-processing functionality in one package. Through its open architecture, Blender provides cross-platform interoperability, extensibility, an incredibly small footprint, and a tightly integrated workflow. Blender is one of the most popular Open Source 3D graphics applications in the world.
Aimed at media professionals and artists world-wide, Blender can be used to create 3D visualizations, stills as well as broadcast and cinema quality videos, while the incorporation of a real-time 3D engine allows for the creation of 3D interactive content for stand-alone playback.
In the last of our tests, we used a benchmark model which is able to give a detailed output image of shapes, and we can see that EIST shows its performance levels over everything else.
