Now we can move onto what this system is truly about, gaming! Of course, this system only has a 1080p display, so we will not be benchmarking it at 1440p or 4K resolutions today. However, keep in mind that it has a G-Sync 120 Hz display, so rendering at 1080p will mean high frame rates and silky smooth gameplay.
It scored just over 100 FPS in Deus Ex, which is not an easy game to run at high frame rates, but it did it with ease. It hit over 140 FPS in Tomb Raider, and over a 100 in both Ghost Recon and Far Cry. That’s awesome to see, and it’s going to make good use of that high refresh rate display. You can really seen the difference of how clear an image is at this refresh rate, and it’s a nice trade off vs higher resolutions.
This CPU and GPU combination made easy work of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The average FPS was sitting gloriously above 60 even at 1440p.
Ghost Recon is not an easy game to run on any system, it’s very demanding in terms of graphics. However, the X3 scored very well at both resolutions and came very close to 60FPS at 1440p.
Finally, Far Cry Primal puts the GTX 1060 through its paces on the X3. Flawless 1080p performance, and a great score at 1440p too. Overall, not bad for such a compact gaming notebook!
