As part of its end of Q2 presentations, HTC unveiled its intentions to release at least six, but up to eight new devices running on either Google Android or Windows Phone 7 platforms, and all of these before the end of the year. These ‘new devices’ will be made up of both mobile phones and tablets and we are not sure how many of each although we only expect 1/2 tablets.
According to sources, and common sense, most of these new devices will run on the Google Android platform, but 1/2 will run on Windows Phone 7 to keep them in that market, as a lot of business people do still prefer the compatibility with their desktop computer that the Windows OS can offer. HTC, a Taiwanese company, also stated that it was going to push tablets harder in 2012 and as such has high expectations for their success.
HTC of course released their first tablet in the first half of 2011, as well as the first dual-core smartphone (HTC Sensation), and with lots more devices planned for this second half we are certainly wondering what remarkably features these devices will have. We certainly expect 3D to be on the agenda, as well as an improved dual-core phone, and a hugely improved tablet to bring it more in-line with the iPad 2.
Whatever the case is, we are pretty sure HTC will be the company to watch in the Mobile Phone market just before the Christmas rush.
