Auto Club Revolution Free-to-Play PC Review

So there we have it, Auto Club Revolution really has been quite a surprise for me this last few weeks, while it may take a little while to get going in terms of unlocking cars and finding your way around its many options, there are plenty of little bits of advice and active chat room boxes on most pages that can help you through it all.  Although as far as it taking a while to get going, this is likely on purpose, as you’re getting the “free ride” version of the game, with plenty of options to buy your way to the faster cars should you feel the need.

There are plenty of options in place for you to spend a bit of spare change on some of the smaller cars, all the way up to a package that costs £39.99 which sees you receive a bunch of high performance cars, performance parts and experience boosts to get you on your way, I of course haven’t spent a penny on this title, not to be a cheap skate or anything, but I think it’s fun to see how much value you can really squeeze out of a free game.  Fortunately I found plenty value in this game, given that it’s one of the better driving games I’ve played in a while in terms of handing, the graphics are nothing ground breaking but it’s still a gorgeous game.  The multiplayer aspects work fantastically and all the usual voice / text chat, private challenges, bragging and what not you expect to find in a multiplayer mode are all accounted for here.

So overall I’m really happy with this game, but I don’t think there is much to compare it to, other than maybe TrackMania, which wouldn’t be fair, this is a driving simulation with all the arcade fun left in, so if your looking for a competent racing title for PC, with great graphics, a good selection of cars and plenty of solo and multiplayer race options, then you can’t go far wrong with Auto Club Revolution, which is why I am awarding it our Gamers Choice Award.
