Avast To End Windows XP/Vista Support In January

For many, Avast has proven to be one of the most effective and reliable free anti-virus programs on the market. Having used them in the past, I have been impressed with their relatively straightforward interface and the solid level of protection it provides.

It is, however, somewhat at the risk of growing a little old-fashioned (like AVG before it).

Speaking of old-fashioned though, the anti-virus software has said in a report via WCCFTech that it is set to cease support for Windows XP and Windows Vista as of January 2019.

Why Is It Discontinuing Support?

Like it or not, Windows XP and Vista are rather old now. Even Microsoft has stopped supporting them. As such, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to hear that Avast no longer wish to apply resources for older operating system versions of their program.

When Will It End?

Although a specific date has not been given, Avast has said support will end this January. In fairness, it’s a decision I find difficult to really question or criticise. Anyone still using XP should really look towards updating to something more modern. Well, if you plan to continue using it online. Vista? Well, hardly anyone adopted that in the first place. I literally used Vista for 24 hours before going back to XP and it seems I wasn’t alone in that choice.
