AVerMedia RECentral Live Gamer HD Capture Card Review

The most important part of this product with out a doubt has to be the capture card itself. The card hosts a PCIe x1 interface and an onboard H.264 Hardware encoder to capture audio and video through the HDMI port on the rear and full 1080p.

On the rear of the card we find two HDMI ports and two 3.5mm 2ch audio ports for capturing and intercepting the video signal from either the onboard graphics from the system that its installed into or alternatively it can be used to capture from an external device such as an Xbox or PS3.

Along side the card, there is an installation guide that shows how to connect the card in-line with an existing graphics card or to an external source. The included CD comes with the RECentral software to manage and record video and there is a smaller card with information on how to download a copy of Xsplit for broadcasting to the internet.

To get connected, the card comes with a HDMI cable, 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable, a pair of HDMI to DVI converters and a USB instant record button. The button allow for instant recording whilst in game with a simple press at which point it then pulses gently to indicate that recording is in progress.
