Avexir Core Series DDR3 2400MHz 16GB Memory Kit Review

The modules come packaged in a typical plastic blister pack, showcasing the modules design from the front with very little branding but this of course keeps costs down.

Turning things over, the rear of the packaging gives us some information on the warranty side of things and the development of the modules including a 100% burn in test, lifetime warranty and that the warranty is world wide. Contact details for those needing to get in touch with Avexir in their Taiwan offices are also printed on the back.

Ripping the modules out of their packaging we get a first glance at the dual-channel kit in all their glory. The first thing you’ll notice is that they feature low-profile heatspreaders which only slightly protrude over the PCB of the modules. They feature a black and silver metal design and have the Avexir logo cut out of the heatspreader allowing the LEDs to shine through, which we’ll take a look at later.

One other thing to note is that these modules come with dust caps over the modules connector plates/fingers so that when not in use, the modules are protected fully. The Avexir logo is also on the side of the modules for extra styling.

On the other side of the modules, we find a simple sticker giving us information on the modules. This includes capacity size, speed, voltage and model number. What we essentially have here is a 16Gb kit (consisting of two 8GB modules) running at 2400MHz at 1.65V.

The top of the modules have slats cut into the heatspreaders as well as the cut-out Avexir logo. Inside the module is a plastic LED strip that lights up as you use the modules.

Once the modules are installed into our testbed system, we proceeded to block out the light so that we could enjoy the unique lighting show. The picture really does speak for itself.
