The AWD-IT Valyrian’s i5 6600K provides good multi-threaded performance although the overclock doesn’t make up for the lack of hyperthreading in synthetic applications. Unless you’re working with virtual machines, complex video editing or something similar, this shouldn’t be a major concern.

As you can see, the pi calculation time is slower than the i7-6700K by a significant margin. This is due to the chip’s 4-core, 4-thread configuration while the i7-6700K can take advantage of 8-threads. On a more positive note, the system outperformed its nearest rival and benefited from the 100MHz higher overclock.

AIDA64 Engineer

Initially, I had numerous problems benchmarking the system’s memory performance and it appeared dual-channel functionality wasn’t working. After performing comprehensive memory stability tests and looking into the memory’s XMP profile, nothing seemed amiss. Eventually, AIDA64 began to display the numbers I’d expect for a 3000MHz dual-channel kit. Please note, the out-of-the-box settings weren’t altered in any way and I’d presume a software issue was the root cause of the unusual results. The memory bandwidth is worthy of praise and within touching distance of systems opting for an i7-6700K and identical memory speed.
