Online discount retailer Bundle Stars are offering a pretty awesome adventure/mystery gaming package. The package includes a whopping 8 games for an absolutely bargain price. All of which, I might add, is just in time for a weekend of gaming.
The Bundle Stars package includes some of what are considered to be some of the best adventure games ever made. If you haven’t heard of them, Bundle Stars are a UK-based publisher. In recent years they have joined in the online market, particularly offering bundles of games for significant discount prices. Similar to that of the more popular Humble Bundle, although it should not be confused that Bundle Stars is not a charity organisation.
While I can’t vouch for all of the games included, I can tell you why you should give this bundle some serious consideration.
Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars (also known in the US as ‘Circle of Blood’) is perhaps the greatest point and click adventure game ever made. Personally, I think it is THE greatest game ever made. With beautiful hand drawn backgrounds and brilliant puzzles, this truly is an excellent game. Everyone should play this!
It also has what is considered to be one of the greatest video game plot lines. It has often been rumoured that this game is responsible for the Da Vinci code book/film. Make of that what you will.
While I do not consider the Directors Cut to be better (in fact I consider it to be worse) than the original, for those who never played the original you will love this regardless!
At the risk of rambling, this game also has one of the finest sound tracks ever produced.
Sequels to excellent films or games are often nowhere near as good. While that may not necessarily be true in all circumstances, it’s a good rule of thumb. Broken Sword 2 is not an exception. However the first was so perfect anything half as good would also be awesome. Broken Sword 2 is an excellent sequel and whilst it may not build on the first game, it is in no measurable way any significantly less of a classic. If Broken Sword was A+, then it’s sequel 2 is a solid B+.
Similar to Broken Sword 1, this is also known by a pseudonym ‘Out of this World’. The game is an excellent example of early 3D polygon graphics. While these might look dated and awkward today, it is hard to decide just how revolutionary this game was. While it can be completed in a measly 20-30 minutes (if you’ve got some good puzzle solving skills) this was truly an excellent, fast paced adventure.
It did spawn a sequel on the Sega CD, but no body talks about that anymore.
Yes, 5 others and in truth aside from Broken Sword 3 (which was disappointing) the remainder appear to be no more than sub-par to okay filler (sorry if one of the developers is reading this). Not unusual for a package like this. So if it has so much filler, why talk about it? Because the above three games for the price this bundle is going for is an absolute steal; It is practically theft!
This whole package is on sale for £3.69. For that, you are getting 3 of the greatest adventure games ever made!
Even if the remaining games are bad (as above, I can vouch that Broken Sword 3 was rubbish), you will still not fail to have an absolute steal on your hands here.
The bundle can be viewed and purchased on their website – Click here to be directed!
If you don’t fancy the bundle, and because we’re nice guys at eTeknix, there’s a 5% discount code below. Just in case something else takes your fancy. I can’t guarantee this will work on a bundle (since they’re already discounted) but you should be good to go for anything else.
