Drones come in a variety of sizes, and while some of them are incredibly small and practical, they still need to be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration, especially if they weigh more than .55 pounds. However, the Vidius quadcopter by Axis is small and light enough that it doesn’t require any registration, as it is actually the smallest first-person-view drone in the world. Measuring in at 4.3cm x 4.3cm x 2.5cm, this tiny device is capable of live streaming and recording videos in 420p, but it does come with its fair share of limitations, especially as far as flight time is concerned.
According to its creators, the drone requires a 20-minute USB charge in order to be able to stream videos on the go for about five to seven minutes at a time, as it is equipped with a relatively modest 150 mAh battery. Vidius comes with a 2.4 gHz controller, and it can be piloted using smartphones or tablets. If you want to get your hands on one of these tiny drones, you should know that the device can be pre-ordered for $75 until January 7, while its full retail price will hit $95 shortly after that date. As far as shipping goes, you can expect to receive your Vidius drone on January 29 at the earliest.
