Remember when people were naming their babies after Game of Thrones characters? Well, it looks like new parents have decided to embrace yet another popular trend, and this time around we’re talking about Pokémon Go. That’s right, several people have decided to name their babies after Pokemon, and some of these names are definitely intriguing. BabyCenter reports that certain names inspired by Pokémon Go characters have spiked in popularity as of late, which kind of makes sense considering how many people have been playing this mobile game. The good news is that parents are going with relatively subtle names such as Roselia, Onyx and Evee, and I’m certainly relieved to hear that Pikachu is not a popular choice at all.
Actually, Evee, Onyx and Roselia have jumped 1,394 spots, 2,191 spots and 5,896 spots respectively, and surely they’re not that bad, right? Like we mentioned above, choosing names from modern pop culture is not exactly a rare occurrence, as famous shows such as Breaking Bad and House of Cards have also been used as inspiration when their popularity peaked. Lately, Pokémon Go has been all over the news, with gamers getting into trouble, getting shot at or even causing serious accidents because they were focusing more on their phones instead of their surroundings.
