As you would expect, this chair comes in a box in parts, so assembly is required. Now, I’m an experienced reviewer that’s had to do this on my own many, many times, but honestly, it is suggested you have someone help you when building these chairs as they’re pretty heavy can an extra set of hands goes a long way when doing tricky parts like the backrest. As you can see, it comes well packaged, with all the components separated by thick cardboard and plastic.
It comes with everything you would expect, such as wheels and a base.
There’s a gas lift, a protective sleeve and seat base mount, etc.
The quality certainly looks impressive, with some really high-quality materials used throughout. One thing I do like is that the chair is made from recycled materials, but you wouldn’t know it if I didn’t tell you, everything has a premium look and feel to it, which is great! Borrowing Backforces’ own words “For the surface of the Backforce V Plus we use 100% polyester fibre made from recycled PET bottles. The cover fabric is made in Italy and complies with Oeko-Tex 100 and the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). The yarn for the embroidery meets the Oeko-Tex 100 as well.”
The material has a honeycomb pattern, which is applied using a special process called ‘electro welding’. And again in Backforces’ own words “This means that no adaptive adhesives or other materials need to be bonded to the textile. This way, the fabric remains recyclable. The honeycomb pattern is available on all Backforce V Plus models.” well, fewer adhesives certainly makes it a lot greener!
The stitching is all very nicely done too, following the various curves and unique shapes of the Backforce V seat base and backrest perfectly. This is a premium chair, so I wouldn’t expect to see shabby sowing anywhere, so I’m happy to see it all looks fantastic.
The same is especially true of the headrest logo, which is sewn in rather than sown on, so it looks very neat and tidy.
There’s also a Backforce brand name sewn in the middle of the shoulder bolsters.
Then these weird shapes that make where your spine will be resting, and pretty much marks out the area of the adjustable lumbar support.
One unique feature of these chairs is the backrest shoulders have Velcro patches. This means you can put your clan tag, nickname, favourite colours or whatever you want up here, and you can order new patches from the Backforce store!
Around the back of the headrest, you’ll find the Gamer Pulse LED mouse. The light is good for up to 20 hours of lighting on a single charge, and while this doesn’t appeal to me at all, I think it’s largely tailored to the eSports scene as teams can have their logo on the back, which makes sense on video or at live events for brand identification.
The seat base is nice and wide, with some bolsters on the side that are padded, but kept low so you should be able to sit with your legs crossed if you wanted.
The armrests are 5D adjustable and come with hard but somewhat padded tops…
What’s this? A super soft thickly padded clip add-on! How awesome!?
Yup just pop it on top and you’ve got even more padding, so you can have whichever suits you really.
