Backforce V Plus Gaming Chair Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Well, it’s certainly not cheap, but at the same time, paying a premium price for a quality gaming chair is nothing new. It seems many consumers have learned that the sub £200 chairs are often uncomfortable and fall to bits within a year, but while this one is 500 EUR, it comes with a staggering 10-year warranty, TEN YEARS! If that’s not delivering on their “Made in Germany” build quality promise, nothing is. So think of it as an investment, as you likely won’t need to worry about it until 2033 with a warranty like this.

Overview

This chair looks amazing, and well, a bit weird. I’m not saying I don’t like it, but the way it starts a little slimmer and then blows out to wider shoulder rests makes it look and feel like the commander’s chair of an alien spaceship, which is obviously cool, it’s just also a bit weird looking. The colours are really vibrant too, and I think the colours and weird shape of it are going to appeal to more than enough people.

Aesthetics are utterly subjective though, and I think this design is going to appeal to some gamers, but certainly not all. It’s weirdly got more of a high-end office chair vibe about its ergonomics rather than a traditional gaming chair. That’s not a bad thing though, as office chairs more often than not are designed for real ergonomics and all-day use, many gaming chairs are often just designed to look cool.

The build quality is superb, and there’s lots of attention to detail that you would expect from a more expensive gaming chair. What does surprise me, however, is how premium and “new” it all looks given it’s largely made from recycled plastics. It’s very impressive to see just how far such processes have progressed.

The chair has a separately tiltable seat base, a separately tiltable and lockable backrest, fully adjustable armrests, and fully adjustable lumbar supports, There’s a built-in headrest, wide shoulder supports, the armrests fold out of the way, there’s a huge range of height adjustment, and… I think that’s everything! The only downside is that getting it all dialled in can be a bit time-consuming, as there are numerous dials and paddles on the underside, but it does get easier with a bit of practice.

Should I Buy One?

Backforce gets top marks for design, as this chair really looks rather purposeful. Rather than just being a typical “gaming chair” it looks like a proper ergonomics office chair that’s been upgraded to look a bit cooler. It feels different to sit in too, but still very comfortable. What really makes it appealing to me is how adjustable it is, and with a 10-year warranty, you get serious peace of mind too.
