Larian Studios has unleashed a new wave of creativity for Baldur’s Gate 3 players with the release of its seventh major update, which includes official support for mods. Within just 24 hours, over one million mods were installed, an impressive milestone for the game that already holds a prominent spot in RPG gaming.
Larian Studios’ CEO and Baldur’s Gate 3 director, Swen Vincke, shared his surprise on Twitter, stating, “Modding is pretty big – we had more than a million mods installed in less than 24 hours.” This rapid uptake underlines the demand and excitement within the gaming community for new content. The number has already reached 1.4 million mods downloaded as of today.
The new mod support simplifies the process for players, enabling them to explore and install mods directly from within the game via the integrated mod manager. This bypasses the need to navigate external websites, making modding more accessible than ever before. Popular mods include additional playable races like Imps and Astral Elves, new classes such as Warlocks and Mystics, UI improvements, and even cosmetic changes.
Larian Studios remains tight-lipped about future updates, with Vincke teasing fans that “the chefs must cook,” suggesting more exciting features and patches are on the way.
