As exciting as the new Dragon Ball FighterZ reveal was at the Xbox press event, Bandai Namco has an even bigger news. A Dragon Ball VR game will be arriving soon. This allows players to actually do a kamehameha and blast away targets and hopefully Saiyans in virtual reality. The scoop comes from UploadVR who has posted the first images online. Bandai Namco specializes in arcade games and Dragon Ball VR will be playable first at their arcade in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Release Date and Availability

The game is played on specially built VR arcade platforms seen below. For now, the Dragon Ball VR game is only playable in person so fans would have to board a flight to Japan to experience it. A preview shown earlier this week reveals that it is compatible with HTC Vive so hopefully it gets ported if there is enough interest. The arcade uses Vive trackers to track hand movements from players who perform special moves to produce the energy blasts. More and more games are heading to VR with Bethesda officially announcing DOOM and Fallout 4 at E3, so hopefully this game turns into something bigger than just blasting targets.

This Dragon Ball VR game is just the latest in long line of game adaptations of the beloved anime franchise. In fact, it is not the first Dragon Ball game to utilize motion control. Five years ago, Bandai Namco announced Kinect compatibility which also detected user-made Kamehameha motions as input commands. A Dragon Ball VR kit from BotsNewVR is also available for Android and iOS users. It requires BotNewVR Megahouse controllers and headset to play.
