The Banner Saga has, so far, been an excellent gaming series. Combining tactical battle with an engrossing storyline has seen the series quickly gain itself a strong and loyal fanbase.
With the first in the series releasing in 2014, it quickly gained an excellent reputation and even to date, holds a very high rating on the Steam review system. Not that their review system is to be entirely trusted.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, Stoic, the developer is set to conclude the ‘Saga’ with their 3rd and final instalment.
While anticipation already grows, there is some good news for fans of the series. In a report via DSOGaming, the launch date has been moved up, and quite considerably too.
Initially planned for release circa Winter 2018, development has seemingly gone so well that the developers have moved the Banner Saga 3 for a release in Summer 2018.
The game is particularly noted for its hand-drawn artwork and despite this, which can often be a major time consumer, with the date being moved up by 2 whole seasons clearly shows that at this point they’ve gotten the hang of it.
Given that the release date change was so unexpected, Stoic has released the first of their pre-game character trailers as can be seen above.
For those unfamiliar with the series, it is definitely well worth checking out. We have included the official trailer below to see if that can tempt you into the Saga.
At present, we will do not have an official release date, but on the bright side, it’s going to be around 6 months sooner than expected.
