Batman Arkham 3 inbound for 2013?

Batman Arkham City and Batman Arkham Asylum were both very successful games on release, and are still today regarded as excellent action games both in terms of graphics and the story line. Consequently, when we hear news of a new Batman game coming we are quite excited because it should hopefully continue the high standards of the previous games.

The Batman game’s official Facebook page made a name change recently going from Batman: Arkham City to Batman Arkham. The meaning of this could be multiple, because by naming the page Batman Arkham, the page now applies to both Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. However, most people have taken this name change to mean a new Batman Arkham game is coming, namely Arkham 3.

Back in February the Time Warner CFO John K Martin confirmed that an unnamed Batman Arkham franchise game was in development. Although this gives no hint to what the game is called and when it will be released, it does suggest that a new game is on the way soon.

“And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.” — Time Warner Management Q4 2012  Earnings Call Transcript

Some believe that this unnamed and unknown addition to the Batman Arkham series could be the Silver-Age Batman game that was rumoured last year. It has also been speculated that Rocksteady studios (who worked on the previous two Arkham games) have been axed in favour of the Canadian studio Warner Brothers team in Montreal leading the development.

Previous Batman game successes mean a new release is highly likely, what better way to make money than continue a highly popular gaming series? More information is certain to come over the year so stay tuned for that. Have you played any Batman Arkham games before? Did you like them? Are you excited about the prospect of a new one? Let us know what you think!
