Battlefield 1’s Single Player is Packed With Content

Modern military shooters like Battlefield, Call of Duty and the other usual suspects tend to focus on the multiplayer aspect and that’s where the core audience comes from. As a result, the single player component is usually overlooked and can be completed within a few hours. Not only that, the story, voice acting and levels seem fairly lacklustre and I haven’t been too excited by a campaign in some time. Despite the single player being heavily criticised in Battlefield 3 and 4, DICE appears to be listening to the feedback and invested more development time to create an enthralling single player experience. According to a post on Reddit, Battlefield 1 will include a staggering 20 missions spanned across 7 episodes. Here is the mission list in full:

Episode 0 : Prologue

  • Chapitre 1 : Prologue

Episode 1 : Friends in High Places

  • Chapter 1 : Flight School
  • Chapter 2 : Total War
  • Chapter 3 : Carry Your Friend
  • Chapter 4 : Blitz

Episode 2 : Nothing is Written

  • Chapter 1 : Hidden in Plain Sight
  • Chapter 2 : Young Mens Works
  • Chapter 3 : Hear The Desert

Episode 3 : Through Mud and Blood

  • Chapter 1 : Tank Assault
  • Chapter 2 : Fog of War
  • Chapter 3 : Out of Gas
  • Chapitre 4 : Steel on Steel

Episode 4 : Avanti Savoia!

  • Chapter 1 : ?
  • Chapter 2 : ?

Episode 5 : The Runner

  • Chapter 1 : ?
  • Chapter 2 : ?
  • Chapter 3 : ?

Episode 6 : Epilogue

  • Chapter 1 : Gallipoli
  • Chapter 2 : The Runaround
  • Chapter 3 : Saving a Life

Judging from the mission’s list, it seems likely that the single player will be relatively long and last much longer than the average modern first-person-shooter. This is great news for those who want to enjoy the game’s setting and dislike the idea of playing competitively with other players. Given the astounding graphics, lengthy campaign and great multiplayer, Battlefield 1 is shaping up quite nicely.
