Battlefield 2042 Officially Delayed Until Nov 19th

While Call of Duty: Vanguard is potentially representing something of a curious distraction for me, I have to admit that I have very high hopes that the upcoming release of Battlefield 2042 will see the franchise get back onto a more solid footing, reminiscent of the earlier titles in the franchise. With it originally scheduled to be released on October 22nd, however, following an official announcement from EA, they have confirmed that this has now been pushed back until November 19th.

And yes, this also includes a yet undisclosed delay on the beta.

Battlefield 2042 Delayed!

In making the announcement, EA has issued the following statement:

“We’ve made the decision to shift the launch of Battlefield 2042. The game will now be released worldwide on November 19th, 2021.

Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams. Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.

Your enthusiasm for the game has been very inspiring. We believe in the game we’re making, and we thank you for your patience as we put some finishing touches into the experience.

Updates on the Open Beta will be coming later this month.”

What Do We Think?

While delays are unfortunate and disappointing, I hope that this time is used wisely to ensure that when Battlefield 2042 arrives, the game is in quality condition. After all, this is EA we’re talking about here, and they don’t exactly have a pristine reputation when it comes to the state of launch day titles.
