Bayan Audio – Bayan 7 iPod Speaker Dock Review

Delving into the audio world isn’t normally our thing at eTeknix, but we all have our mobile phones and mp3 players so we thought it’d be a great idea to present you with a new type of product, and what a great product to kick things off with.
The Bayan 7, by Bayan Audio has been a delight to our auditory senses. The clear tones, deep bass and stylish looks has had us throwing shapes all over our office. ‘Moves like Jagger – Maroon 5’ sounded perfect, just like when we raved it up to some bassy dance tracks by David Guetta. The dual docks meant we could switch easily between our iPhones, iPad or any other device we had plugged in, and when we disconnected them, they were all fully charged – that’s always a good thing. We love the clean, contemporary and slightly industrial look, although we are aware it may be like marmite, you either love it, or hate it.
The Bayan 7 isn’t all it’s cracked up to be however, the distinctive lack of a display makes it almost impossible to tell what bass and treble levels you have it set at, although, most of the time, having the bass cranked to max meant we never had to bother getting the levels right. Do Bayan Audio focus too much on the looks instead of practicality? We’ll leave that one down to you, but with a price tag of almost £300, we would have liked to see one included, on top of some wireless connectivity.
Is the Bayan 7 really worth splashing the cash? Well, at eTeknix we are going to answer that question with a very firm yes. The superb sound quality, attractive design and the dual dock feature vastly over-shadows the small niggles and lack of a display. If we had an award for superb audio then we would gladly award the Bayan 7 with that, but since we don’t, we are ending this review with the following award instead:
