be quiet! Dark Rock Elite Air Cooler Review

be quiet! is one of the leading brands for high-end CPU air coolers, cases, and power supplies. Their Dark Rock coolers have long been some of the best-performing air coolers on the market, offering low temperatures, and low noise, but often at a premium price in line with high-end solutions for the likes of their close rivals Noctua and a few other top-name brands. The only downside is that be quiet! had been their murderous mounting system, but that has certainly been resolved with their latest generation, as we saw with my recent review of the Dark Rock Pro 5.

be quiet! Dark Rock Elite

Of course, today is all about the Dark Rock Elite, a similar cooler to the Pro, but just a little more high-end and with some RGB thrown in for good measure, which is subjective, but if you love a bit of colour, it’s something we haven’t seen on many be quiet! products in the past. However, don’t think it’s all bling and no performance, as it comes with the flagship Silent Wings fans, a 7-heat-pipe design, a built-in quiet and performance mode switch, and plenty more beyond.

Features

  • 2 Silent Wings 135mm PWM fans for maximum air pressure and perfect airflow
  • Innovative front fan mounting system for maximum usability and RAM compatibility
  • 7 high-performance heat pipes for immensely high cooling power
  • Quiet Mode for virtually inaudible operation and Performance Mode for extraordinary cooling performance via speed switch
  • ARGB LEDs for great visual effects
  • Special black coating with ceramic particles enables perfect heat transfer and elegant look
  • Unmistakable, beefy design makes for an eyecatcher in any system

What be quiet! Had to Say

“Dark Rock Elite offers unprecedented performance and cooling power with cutting edge fan technology and an iconic design. Despite its distinctive look, Dark Rock Elite offers high RAM compatibility with an innovative rail system. The detachable top cover contributes to the convenient handling of this high-end cooler. It also features elegant ARGB lighting with endless illumination options. Join the Elite.” – be quiet!
