The Be Quiet! Light Base 900 FX ranges from £214.99 to £224.99 depending on the color choice. This places it firmly in the upper echelon of enthusiast PC cases, where it competes with offerings from other premium brands like Corsair, Lian Li, and HYTE, to name a few.
However, the Light Base 900 FX justifies its price with a compelling set of features. The inclusion of four Light Wings ARGB fans, which aren’t cheap on their own, a dual tempered glass window design, integrated ARGB lighting and hubs, and USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C support, all contribute to its premium status. While the cost might be a barrier for some, those seeking a case with strong aesthetics, excellent airflow, and modern connectivity will find the Light Base 900 FX to be a worthwhile investment.
It’s also worth noting that the Light Base 900 DX, which foregoes the included ARGB fans, offers a more budget-friendly option at £173.99 to £189.98. This allows users to get the same great case, but use fans of their own choice to complete the build.
There’s also a smaller version called the Light Base 600, and perhaps we’ll review that at a later date.
The Be Quiet! Light Base 900 FX is a case that truly embraces the concept of versatility. One of its most unique features is the ability to effortlessly switch between multiple orientations. Whether you prefer a traditional vertical setup, an inverted layout with the motherboard upside down, or even a horizontal configuration, the Light Base 900 FX adapts to your needs, although I suspect most people will pick a configuration and stick with it, rather than change it every other day.
This flexibility extends to its impressive hardware compatibility. The Light Base 900 FX can house a variety of motherboards, ranging from compact Mini-ITX boards to expansive XL and E-ATX. This ensures that builders aren’t limited in their choice of core components, the case offers ample clearance for even the most massive graphics cards, coolers, PSUs and more.
Storage options are great, with an HDD cage and SSD mounts, and the option to expand this if you feel the need for even more, although I suspect few people will need more given the enthusiast market has shifted largely to M.2 storage.
Cooling potential is another area where the Light Base 900 FX excels. The case can accommodate 10 x 140mm fans and multiple massive radiators, allowing for comprehensive air or water cooling setups, so whichever you prefer, it’s going to be pretty epic.
The Light Base 900 FX certainly has striking aesthetics. The fully windowed side and front panels offer an unobstructed view of the hardware inside, while the Integrated ARGB lighting adds a touch of personalisation that really grabs your attention. I love that it looks a little big of retro about the design, but it’s unmistakably very modern.
The Be Quiet! Light Base 900 FX is a premium case that delivers on its promise of versatility, performance, and style. Its adaptable design, combined with its extensive hardware support and impressive cooling capabilities, makes it a premium choice for any system-building enthusiast.
