be quiet! Light Wings White 120/140mm Fans Review

There’s no shortage of really great RGB hardware these days, in fact, I’d argue there’s far too much of it right now. However, I’m a big fan of be quiet! and usually, when they put out a new product, you can bet it’s going to be one of the best in its class. The new Light Wings fans come in both 120mm and 140mm variants, and they were kind enough to furnish me with a set of each, lucky me!

Naturally, be quiet! is all about noise levels, so we’re expecting these fans to be quiet for real, not just in the brand name. However, making fans quieter is surprisingly easy, you just lower the RPM! But getting low noise and good airflow? Well, that’s where things get tricky, so I’m eager to see what they have to offer. Of course, RGB is a big focus here too, and each fan comes equipped with a range of addressable RGB LED lights; 18 in the 120mm and 20 in the 140mm.

Overview

  • Lots of illumination possibilities: Light Wings 120mm PWM offers ARGB lighting at the front and rear. The subtly lit ring at the back combined with the bright one at the front make for a magnificent appearance from every angle. 18 ARGB LEDs give you many opportunities to individualize your PC build.
  • Synchronize up to six Light Wings simultaneously: An ARGB Hub allows to use and synchronize up to six ARGB components at the same time. A user-friendly installation makes for an easy and convenient process, while the elegant all-black design of the ARGB Hub visually suits any PC case. It can be mounted like an SSD or anywhere else using the double-coated adhesive tape supplied.
  • Fan blades optimized for high airflow: With optimization for maximum airflow, Light Wings 120mm PWM is the right choice for any case configuration that demands high cooling performance. Its seven airflow-optimized fan blades not only reduce noise-generating turbulences but also ensure Light Wings 120mm PWM provides the performance that is needed, even in demanding configurations.
  • Acclaimed be quiet! low noise level: A highly optimized fan frame and impeller achieve the silent operation be quiet! is famous for. With a noise level of just 20.6dB(A) at maximum fan speed, it proves that instead of being a replacement the lighting is an add-on to very silent and very powerful operation. All features combine to make Light Wings 120mm PWM the fan of choice for silent showcases and gaming systems alike.
  • Adjusts the fan speed and associated noise level: Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) allows compatible 4-pin controllers, including those built into many motherboards, to intelligently vary the speed and thus the noise level of the fan. With PWM the system can ramp up the cooling when it’s needed, or operate in maximum quiet mode when it’s not.
