be quiet! Pure Base 500 Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The be quiet! Pure Base 500 is available now, and impressively, the price is pretty darn low for a be quiet! case. They’ve obviously made it to be more affordable. Honestly, looking at it, you wouldn’t think it was “affordable” and it still has all the premium features you could ask for.

Overview

The mid-budget mid-tower PC case market is fierce these days. There are hundreds of impressive solutions out there. Colours, shapes, sizes, tempered glass, RGB, no RGB, you’re spoilt for choice. However, despite the size of the market, I think be quiet! has still produced something that stands out from the crowd.

Build Quality

The case does have a little more plastic, such as the front panel, than their more expensive models. Despite that, I think it looks stunning with that lightly textured finish. Tempered glass is obviously a welcome addition, although not exactly uncommon these days either. What is rare is that it’s crystal clear glass, where most cases have a heavy tint to their glass. The addition of the PSU shroud, stealth HDD/SSD mounts, cable management, and those two slick be quiet! fans, well, it’s premium in and out.

Silence

Those Pure Wings 2 fans are some of the best on the market. At 140mm each, they’ll move big airflow at low RPM. Then again, with be quiet! literally making their reputation off of being quiet, even at higher RPM they’re hardly noisy. Furthermore, they’ve added noise dampening materials to the side panel, and to the top cover. It all adds up to a pretty quiet case. Then again, with the magnetic dust filter top and a few other tweaks, you can turn this into a big radiator, many-fan, air-breathing monster easily enough too.

Should I Buy One?

I think the style of this case is the main selling point. I think it looks utterly stunning and I love the bright white look of it. It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste though. However, with a black and an anthracite grey option, and options to have it without tempered glass, there should be one that suits your taste.
