Be Quiet Pure Base 500DX Review

First impressions of the be quiet! Pure Base 500DX are really good, as it has a nice sturdy feel to it and immediately I love the design of it too. There’s a massive side panel window, showing off the interior in all its glory. That is a very clear piece of glass though, so getting the little details like cable routing correct will prove important.
The window is held in place by four aluminium thumbscrews in the corners.
At the front of the case, you’ll find a stunning front panel with pair of full-height mesh ventilation panels. This is a very air-flow focused case, which is obviously a good thing.
What I love is that rather than stick ARGB fans in here, they’ve integrated the ARGB into the case design with two strips running up the front panel. We’ll see that in action shortly, don’t worry.
Down the right side of the case, you’ll find a solid metal panel, which is held in place by a pair of thumbscrews at the rear. Not that you’ll need in here too often, but it’s still pretty easy to get quick access when needed.
Around the back, you’ll find a 140mm fan mounted at the top, albeit, there are 120mm fan mounting holes should you need them. Below that, you’ll find all the expansion slots are fitted with reusable and ventilated metal covers. None of those nasty snap-off ones here! There’s a removable bracket for the PSU also, as it needs to be inserted from the rear rather than the side.
Up on the top of the case, you’ll find a huge dust filter, with a really cool look black surround and be quiet! logo on it.
Remove the top cover and you’ll find mounting for both 120mm and 140mm spaced fans and radiators.
Towards the front, there’s a simple I/O panel, offering up all the usual power controls, audio jacks, etc. I love that they’ve included a USB Type-C, albeit it looks a little bit like an afterthought with the fit and finish.
Finally, on the base of the case, there’s an enormous dust filter covering the full length of the 500 DX. Even better, it slides out from the FRONT, not the back, so it really is very easy to clean and maintain.
